Irene Nan Kay is a site about the main characters of a trilogy book series, written by KC Cowan, Sara Cole and Nancy Danner. The first book is "Journey to Wizards' Keep." It's the story of three very different girls who must join together to stop an evil wizard before he destroys their world. "Journey to Wizards' Keep" is filled with action, romance and humor, and one reader said: "It starts with a bang and keeps on going!"

This photo was taken of the three authors about the time they were originally writing "The Log," which became "Journey to Wizards' Keep."
This is the draft watercolor sketch for the cover of Journey to Wizards' Keep by artist Shanon Playford.
This was a sketch idea for the cover by artist Shanon Playford that has Irene's arms open and Kay on the right.
Early cover art sketches
This was another draft version with Irene's arms down. I opted for this one.
This was the original cover design for when we printed copies for ourselves and our friends after transcribing the original hand-written chapters of "The Log." The art work is by Anne Timmons, an award winning cartoonist.
Can you spot the mistake? (Hint: it's near Kay.)
This is a drawing KC did of Marguerite -- the half-fairy with whom Stephon falls in love. In "The Log," there was a very long story line about the two characters, and how they fell in love. However, it had to be cut when we re-wrote the story to be "Journey."
We sometimes drew illustrations to send along with chapters. This is Garsland, drawn by KC. It's clear why we didn't illustrate "Journey to Wizards' Keep!"
Sara drew this image of one of Gar's fairies.
Sara drew this map of the world of Irene, Nan and Kay. It is shaped surprisingly like Oregon!
